Grabal Alok (UK) Ltd (t/a Store Twenty One) have instructed Smith Price to acquire stores on their behalf as part of a significant expansion. Following the takeover of the QS Group in 2007, the value retailer is seeking an additional 50 to 100 new stores across the UK per annum to add to the 205 stores, some 800,000 sq ft of retail space, already in operation. Smith Price will be responsible for acquiring stores in the southeast of England - south of Lincoln, east of the M1/A34 as well as the Isle of Wight. John Mortimer and Mark Cherry will be heading to Manchester for the forthcoming BCSC conference where they will be representing the retailer on their stand and helping to promote the new launch. The expansion forms part of a major programme which will see the rolling-out of the new Store Twenty One format with major emphasis on the new brand. 16 stores have been refitted so far this year with a further 25 more earmarked by February 2010. Stores at Wythenshawe, Chatham and Ross On Wye have already benefited from these refits resulting in significant increases in sales performances. The stores required will ideally comprise circa 4,000 to 6,000 sq ft of sales space plus an additional 1,000 to 2,000 sq ft of ancillary space.
