ShakeAway have claimed the Retailer of the Year accolade at the annual 2009 SCEPTRE Awards. The milkshake retailer finished ahead of runners-up Calendar Club & JYSK, as well as other nominees including TM Lewin, Thorntons and Puma, in a vote held amongst the Shopping Centre magazine readership. The John Lewis Partnership was the previous winner in 2008.
The event, recently held at the Dorchester hotel on Park Lane in London, featured 13 categories which offer recognition to the best practices and best people within the shopping centre industry. This year the ceremony was hosted by the children’s rugby charity, Wooden Spoon, who benefited from various fundraising activities held throughout the programme.
ShakeAway, who retain Smith Price in all property matters, opened their first store in 1999 and now operate 23 outlets across the country following a rapid expansion over the last year. A further 15 new outlets are planned for this year, as the expansion continues, with the retailer aiming to bring its unique product mix to even more shopping centres and high streets.
