August saw the staff at Smith Price treated to a well-earned break from the office with a day out in Cambridge. The lack of sunshine did little to dampen the spirits of the party with the morning spent taking in the sites. This included tours of the Lion Yard centre, where the firm is instructed as a joint agent, and the new Grand Arcade scheme. The morning excursions were followed by antics on the water as the firm commandeered punts for the afternoon. John Mortimer proved a dab hand with the pole, maybe hinting at experience of working the Venetian canals in his youth, though his efforts were surpassed by Tom Richardson who managed to avoid a dip despite wearing leather cowboy boots and standing the round way round. Highlights of the day included a picnic on the banks of the canal, overlooking the splendid Kings College, closely followed by graceful descents by John Loveday and Tim Preston into the waterways. No ducks were harmed. |
